The broad main street of Long Melford is the longest high street in East Anglia, and the historic Bull is its centre piece. Built in 1450 and an inn since 1570, the Bull has a wealth of original detail such as a beautiful Elizabethan fireplace in the lounge. The Cordell Restaurant serves fine cuisine amongst antique carvings, whilst a good bar menu together with cask ales and a fine selection of wines by the glass are available in the Reeves Bar. 23 en-suite bedrooms and 2 suites are all beautifully decorated with every comfort and the Bull has 3 meeting and conference rooms for up to 60 people. |

The Bull Hotel was a coaching inn for over 500 years. With it's gently sloping floors and wealth of oak beams the hotel retains much of its historic character. The restaurant offers an extensive bar/brasserie menu and real ale is served in the welcoming |

I was really looking forward to staying here because the hotel seemed to be exactly what one would expect for a quaint English Inn. In fact we were very disappointed. It was a Saturday and there was a wedding taking place. They had taken over the whole hotel seemingly, and so it was impossible to enjoy any of the public areas at all.
Dinner was completely ruined by the noise from the wedding group, and it was obvious that the residents had been moved to what I guess would normally have been a lounge area. We could hardly hear each other, and so we were unable to enjooy the meeting with the English relative we were dining with.
Our room was comparatively modern, at the back of the hotel (which made it quiet), but was quite small and not that attractively furnished.
I would only go back if I had a written guarantee that there were bot going to be any functions going on during my stay |
