The Red House is situated in the centre of Lavenham, just a stone's throw from the medieval Guildhall and Market Place. It is a late Victorian double-fronted townhouse built in 1890, following a fire which destroyed a much older house, but left the bakehouse at the rear intact. The Turners were one of the village bakers and they continued to use the bakehouse until the Fifties. Following a complete renovation, the bakehouse has been removed, and the house enlarged. |
