Maribago Blue Water last won an award in 1993 and for a reason. That was the last time it was good. Before I made my trip, I trawled the net for reviews. I can only assume the resort posted some of their OWN rave reviews.
Whatever you imagine, Maribago Bluewater is not it. It is by no stretch of the imagination premium or even quality class and certainly not 4 star. For starters, landscaping cry for attention, grass gasp to be watered. There is no ambience and certainly, no organised activities. Except for family groups picnicing by the pool (which incidentally is not allowed) and the towel man chatting to the occasional passing housekeeping staff, it was dead. What on earth are you going to do for five days?

Wait for the lagoon to fill-up and perhaps take a picture. Thereafter (and for most evenings), water is sucked out and you are left with a bed of weed and urchins (and flocks of begging beach peddlers). Or, perhaps jump into the cloudy salt-filtered pools. If you plan to just chill out in your room, have an alternative plan unless there is a programme on Satellite TV that you just can?t miss! If you want to get away and do some Island Hopping, Boyla charter is next door. Boatmen are licensed and boats are well-maintained (That is not part of the hotel. I should have known).

The menu is limited. The evening salad buffet is almost apologetic for its lack of selection. Plus is, they do have strollers playing from 6-9. If at all, it would be the day?s highlight. Have a tip in hand. Only go to the seafood restaurant if you don?t mind shellfish that is charged by the grams.
