Dating back to the late 1800s, the ethorpe hotel started life as a private residence. A buckinghamshire census of 1891 records the bellairs family living here along with their domestic staff. Abbram ennis a stockbroker, was the head of the family and the house was simply known as ethorpe. The first record of the house becoming a licensed hotel was in 1924.
