| Originally this establishment was named knuydtswalle. Back then, there was a rampart and a broad ditch around it. The ditch is not there anymore, but the large entrance gate can still be seen. At first, the farm was the property of the saint-nicolas abbey in veurne until the french revolution. The farm was sold and in 1798, it became the property of a merchant of bruges. After that, several other people owned the farm. During the first world war, the farm was completely ruined. After the reconstruction, it was occupied by several tenants. From that time, the first member of the nollet family arrived to live on the farm in 1920. In 1969, the farm was put up for sale and daniã«l and hertha nollet-d'hulster bought it. As tourists began visiting the farm in 1971, the schoorbakkehoeve kept on growing and became an attraction in the region. Today, the schoorbakkehoeve is run by piet and karin panckoucke-nollet and their staff. The farm is now known as â??the pearl of schoreâ??. |
