The scandic kiannon kuohut is a family friendly spa hotel set in woodlands on the banks of a river, 500 metres from the local handicrafts shop. This four floor hotel features 73 bright, scandinavian style guestrooms with wooden floors and large windows overlooking the village or the river. In room amenities include televisions with pay movies, wireless internet access, hair dryers and minibars.
the hotel is home to a spa with two traditional finnish saunas, a turkish steam room, spa tub and gym. There are five different pools, including a 25 metre swimming pool, a cold water plunge pool, massage pool and a children's pool with two waterslides. A beautician and hairdresser are also on hand to pamper guests, and there is a private sauna available for hire, able to accommodate up to 20 people; surcharges may apply to all spa facilities. The hotel has an informal restaurant where traditional local dishes such as kainuu salmon soup, sautéed reindeer and finnish farmhouse cheese with cloudberries are served; international dishes are also available. At the weekends there is a late night disco. Children will love the playroom where there are plenty of toys and games, and a video corner. Kids also receive a surprise gift at check in. Guests arriving by car will appreciate free parking and can use the car engine heaters in winter. During the winter months guests can swim in the river where a hole in the ice provides refreshment after the heat of the sauna. The forests and waterways of the region offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor pursuits in the immediate proximity of the hotel; guests can go skiing, hiking, fishing and snowmobiling, straight from the hotel. Organised safaris to see the wild animals of the region, as well as hikes and tours, are arranged by the hotel. Kajaani airport is 115 kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 90 minutes. |
