|
| Herbert t. Hayashi, the visionary owner of the pagoda hotel complex, was inspired by a keen appreciation of nature when he developed the hotel and the dramatic koi fishpond that gracefully winds around the famous pagoda floating restaurant and japanese garden. Koi, the famed japanese ornamental carp and cousin of the common goldfish, is a freshwater fish that has been treasured for centuries as a symbol of good luck, courage and longevity. Records of the carp date back about 2,500 years. |
