Accommodation Search Engine Help

The Accommodation Search Engine (ASE) is a listing of all hotel, B&B and holiday rental websites that have been submitted to us since 1995. Some are managed by wholesalers who provide an on-line booking service for the hotel but many are submitted by the hotel or B&B themselves. The information on each website is the responsibility of the owners of the website.

The search

All the properties in the search engine are geo-coded, as is the database of cities, towns and villages. For every search we list the accommodation by its proximity to the centre of the place being searched. There is a filter option that allows you to bring certain categories of places to the top of the search. This is very useful if you are just looking for a B&B or a hotel for example, but not all owners have classified their properties and so some will not show if the filter is used. Where a hotel has more than one web site we have, whenever possible, linked them together so that each place will only have one entry in the search results. Making Reservations

Smaller hotels, B&Bs and holiday rentals usually have an e-mail reservation system, or you can telephone them to make a booking. Larger hotels are usually linked into one of the on-line reservation systems and you can book on-line. Some hotels may be linked to several systems and you can select which one you wish to use. These systems are not operated by ASE, which acts only as a search engine. All the booking systems we allow to submit hotels to our system always send an e-mail confirmation, however these can be rejected by spam filters etc. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation of a booking check your spam filter or junk e-mail folder to make sure it isn't there. If after 12 hours you have still not received your e-mail confirmation please contact the company that you booked through.

Amending or cancelling a reservation

It is very important you keep a note of who you made a reservation through as any changes or cancellations must be made through the same company. The details of how to make changes will be in the e-mail you received when you made the reservation.

Reviewing hotels and B&Bs

We are always happy to receive reviews for places we list in the search engine; this helps others who may be thinking of staying in the same area. If you would like to add a review please follow the link on the relevant hotel page.

Broken links

Inevitably things change, websites get moved and hotels and B&Bs close down. We try to ensure that the search doesn't have wrong information, but we can't check every link every day. If you find a broken link please alert us so we can repair it.
