This is a pub with rooms, and first and foremost it functions as a pub rather than as a hotel. It is also an old and historic building with all sorts of restrictions on what alterations the owners can make and so inevitably there are downsides to it. The bathroom i had was minute, and for some reason the door was only 5 feet high, but the room was large, the bed was comfortable, there was free wifi and the staff were, without exception, friendly and courteous. <br><br>the steak i had for dinner was served in one of the rooms in the bar and was excellent and the breakfast service was good with better than average orange juice and a bigger selection of cooked dishes than in many more expensive places. <br><br>it was karaoke night and i was warned at every stage that my room above the bar would be subject to a lot of noise until 11pm, so i stayed in the bar watching and talking to the local elvis lookalike, which was a popular thing to do because he might look like elvis but his singing was terrible!<br><br>for me the bull was in the right location and for one night it was fine and i really enjoyed my stay - but i like pubs and if you prefer antiseptic modern hotels then this probably isn't the place for you.....
