Of all of my many stays at marriott properties, this was by far the most disappointing. My family and i were there for some 4th of july r & r. We stayed in between two rooms of people who stayed up to party and who were constantly going in and out slamming doors yelling in the halls. The automatic doors in this hotel were so loud they literally shook our room and interrupted all levels of sleep (my three year old was up all night). We called and visited the front desk three times. The front desk was apparently understaffed or not trained to handle this situation because nothing was done for over two hours at which point the desk clerk (who had apparently written down the wrong room number) apparently called the wrong hotel room and woke some other people up-- someone down the hall not even close to us. To compound matters, the "operations manager" on duty the next afternoon handled the situation poorly by indicating essentially that he did not believe us and pointing out that it was a holiday weekend. Apparently marriott benton harbor's policy is to accomodate obnoxious inconsiderate partiers at the expense of good clients. He offered to refund 1/15 of what it was costing us to stay that night which was insulting and meaningless. We had to call corporate marriott to get some resolution. Our treatment there left a bad taste in our mouth for marriott in general and was an upsetting disruption to our vacation and sleep. If you stay there, hope you don't have a situation that requires intelligent, customer oriented, common consideration. <br><br>jennifer b .... Click here for more reviews
